Wednesday, 31 July 2013

Brigadier General Farzad Esmaeili, Commander of Khatam al-Anbia Air Defense Base, said  the air defense systems Rafi’ (digital height gauge), Rajal ( passive radar) and Qaffar 1 (missile simulator system) are to be unveiled in Iran on September 1. Esmaeili hailed the Supreme Leader, saying that “By his separation, he wanted us to have a professional force for air defense. We did have air defense before, but its missions were different.” He said that Khamenei gave more than 250 pieces of advice on the subject of air defense and discussed them as the top priority. He termed air defense as an important tool to be used against long-range and strategic aircraft and also cruise, ballistic and semi-ballistic missiles used by Iran’s rivals. Esmaeli said that Khatam al-Anbia Air Defense Base will be opening its own university that is also to be launched on September 1. It will accept students by September 23. This university will be run independently by the air defense base.
