Despite the appointment of three new jurists and an acting chairman of the Guardian Council, the reason a spokesman for this body has not been appointed is still unclear. According to Fars, the previous spokesman, Abass Ali Kadkhodaei, earned the absolute trust of Council Chairman Ayatollah Jannati, but the changes made in the new makeup of the Council and the Council’s lingering in the selection and appointment of a spokesman might ultimately result in the Council’s continuing its operations without a spokesman, but would work only through the Public Relations Department.
