Commander of the IRGC’s Second Naval Zone Brigadier General Ali Razmjou said that “The IRGC Navy (IRGCN) has guaranteed security of the Persian Gulf region along the coastal line stretching from Chabahar to the Arvand River”, boosting Iran’s defense and deterrence capabilities. Razmjou, however, warned “the enemies” of a crushing response if they display any aggression in Iran’s territorial waters. Razmjou said that highly modern equipment such as missile-launching assault vessels, torpedo-launcher boats, mine-planting vessels, marines airborne units, drone systems, various types of coast-to-sea missiles with different ranges and wiretapping systems have boosted the preparedness of the IRGC’s second naval zone to the highest levels. (IRGC was tasked to defend the strategic Persian Gulf security in 2008 while the army (Artesh) has been tasked with securing the Sea of Oman and the Caspian Sea).
