LeaderGate – Senior IRGC intelligence officer eavesdropped on Supreme Leader’s bureau

Tuesday, 13 August 2013

Deputy Commander for Intelligence of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Hussein Taeb has “eavesdropped” on senior officials in the Supreme Leader’s office including Mir Mohammad Mohammadi Golpayegani (chief of staff), Ali-Asghar Mirhejazi (head of intelligence, one of the founders of the Ministry of intelligence) and Vahid Haqqanian. IRGC Commander Mohammad Ali Aziz-Jafari and other top commanders in the force were also subject to eavesdropping. According to Kaleme (a pro-reform website that supports Mir-Hussein Mousavi) the “scandal,” which also involved some members of Khomeini’s household and estate, has led “senior figures of the regime to plot a case” against Taeb.” Kaleme adds that  “What led the authorities to make a case against Taeb-led forces were the recent conflicts inside the security forces, strengthening of the Intelligence Ministry vis-vis the IRGC and the possibility of retaliatory security actions by IRGC’s intelligence forces in the secret war going on between security officials” .
