Display of ballistic and long-range missiles at Sacred Defense Week parade

Monday, 23 September 2013

At the annual parade that opened the events of Sacred Defense Week, the Air and Space Force of the IRGC displayed an unprecedented number of 2000km long-range Sejjil, Qader F and Qader H ballistic missiles. According to the Iranian media, these missiles have been showcased in the past, but never this many (12 Sejjil missiles with solid fuel and 18 Qader missiles). Conservative Fars News emphasized that these missiles can hit any spot of the occupied lands when any attack takes place. Sardar Hossein Salami, acting IRGC commander, said in a television interview, “If on a day of battle, we want to launch, for example, 1,000 missiles, today we have tens of thousands of these missiles in our silos.” Another example displayed at the parade was the Air Defense Force’s innovative radar that has been called “the silent radar” by the Commander of the Air Defense Force, Farzad Esmaeili. This radar does not emit waves, meaning that it cannot be detected. Additionally, upgraded Scorpion and Chieftain tanks as well as the Iranian Zolfaqar tank were displayed.
