Iran, Russia to join electricity grids

Energy Minister Hamid Chitchian said that “Iran has energy exchange projects with all countries with which it shares a land border, namely Iraq, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Turkmenistan, Afghanistan and Pakistan. He added that “the power grids of Iran and Russia can be connected either through Azerbaijan or Turkmenistan. Chitchian added that the construction work of underwater cables to transfer Iranian electricity to the countries on the southern shores of the Persian Gulf, which have good capacities for electricity export and import, has started.
