Wednesday, 16 October 2013

Mansour Haqiqatpur, Deputy Chairman of the Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee (NSFPC), said that the Majlis has written a letter to the Foreign Ministry, requesting the presence of a member of the committee at the negotiations. Haqiqatpur noted that presence of a lawmaker in the nuclear negotiating team requires Foreign Ministry approval. “The Ministry has not replied to the Majlis’ request yet.” He stressed the necessity of the presence of a Majlis member on the nuclear negotiating team and said that such a supervisory role will help the talks move forward in a “proper and positive direction.”
