IRGC forces arrest music distributors, pressure them to confess on television

Thursday, 12 December 2013

IRGC intelligence arrested musician Mehdi Rajabian, his brother, and Yousef Emadi, who managed BargMusic on October 12 in the northern city of Sari.  The prisoners were transferred to IRGC’s Ward 2-A inside Tehran’s Evin Prison. The three were involved in the production, distribution, and promotion of Iranian underground music and they are being pressured  to confess on television. The arrests appear to be part of a larger crackdown on Internet and IT professionals and musicians. Last week, popular Iranian musician Amir Tataloo was arrested and detained for several days before being released on bail awaiting trial.
