Interior Minister and Secretary General of the Anti-Narcotics Headquarters Abdoleza Rahmani Fazli discussed the scope of drug use in Iran, saying that 6 million Iranians are directly involved in drugs. Despite the successes of the interior security forces, the Anti-Narcotics Headquarters, Ministry of Intelligence, etc. it is impossible to claim that we have passed the drug dealers. Simply, we can conclude that we are lagging behind the addicts and smugglers and the increase in the number of addicts indicates a commendable increase in drug smuggling. According to the latest statistics, Iran currently has 1,325,000 drug addicts, some of whom have become distributors. If we assume that every one has a 5-member family involved in this business, this translates into 6 million people who are directly involved in drugs, and this is a high statistic. This statistic will be much higher if we take into account those who are indirectly involved in drugs. As such, he added that the number of women addicted to drugs has doubled.
