Cyber authorities criticize IRNA for promoting “Zionist-espionage website” Facebook

Thursday, 19 December 2013

Legal adviser to Iran’s general prosecutor and secretary of a work group tasked with determining “criminal content” in the cyber space Abdosamad Khorramabadi sent a letter to IRNA (Iran’s official news Agency), criticizing it for “advertising for the Zionist-espionage website of Facebook.” Khorramabadi quoted Khamenei as saying: “During the tenure of the current American president (Obama) and during the post (June 2009 presidential) election incidents, one of the social networking websites (FaceBook), which was used as a tool by seditionists, needed some construction works. America asked them to postpone their website construction activities. They hoped that they would overthrow the Islamic system through media and social networks, like FaceBook and Twitter. Those were simple and foolish thoughts.” Khorramabadi reiterated the ban on FaceBook and stated: “In light of all the warnings given by the Sources of Emulation, scholars and those who care about the (Islamic) system, it is improbable that anyone doubts the necessity for the resumption of filtering this website (FaceBook).”
