Imprisoned blogger launches medication strike in protest of behavior of prison authorities

Daughter of Mohammadreza Pourshajari said that her father was opposing removal to a hospital for the sixth time, pleading before prison authorities that in the five previous times, they removed him to hospital only on Wednesdays, when specialists are not on call in the hospital, leading the hospital to request his hospitalization, a request that is denied by the prison authorities. Her father is then returned to prison. Each time after his return, her father is forced to spend days in solitary confinement, which further endangers his health. In addition, each time he is transferred to hospital in shackled hands and legs. 51-year-old blogger Pourshajari was arrested four years ago in his home in Baraj, and has been subjected to torture and harassment for seven months.
