Tuesday, 4 February 2014

Spokesman for the  Atomic Energy Organization (AEOI) Behruz Kamalvandi  said that “The Bushehr (nuclear)  power plant (NPP) will shut down on January 3rd  in order to change one third of its fuel (27 tones) and the refueling process will start as planned before.” Kamalvandi added that the refuelling was scheduled to take place “several weeks ago”, but was delayed due to cold weather, which led to a surge in gas consumption. AEOI Deputy Head Mohammad Ahmadian said that “the annual repair work will be managed by Iranian staff and experts, but with the help of Iranian and Russian companies…The refueling process takes 45 days.”
