Wife of worker union activist summoned to revolutionary court to be re-tried

Human rights activists are reporting that Mrs. Shahnaz Sagvand, wife of worker union activist Ali Nejati, was summoned to revolutionary court in Ahvaz to be retried. Sagvand was tried several times in revolutionary court in Shosh and Dezful, and was acquitted. The prosecutor of Shosh filed an appeal of her acquittal, leading to the fourt time that Sagvand is being tried in revolutionary court in Ahvaz. Sagvand is charged with anti-regime propaganda due to her support and handling of the legal case against her husband. Ali Nejati was arrested by intelligence ministry agents due to his work for workers in the Haft Tapeh sugar cane factory, was tortured and held for several months in remand. According to the report, the trial of Nejati’s wife is designed to pressure the family.
