Detained reformist leader Mehdi Karroubi’s wife writes letter to prominent right-wing political figure to protest his “insulting words” about her husband -

Thursday, 25 July 2013

A part of Fatemeh Karroubi’s letter addressed to Habib-Allah Asgaroladi, the leading figure in the right-wing Islamic Motalefeh Party (IMP), reads  “I do not allow myself to remain silent when insulting words are repeated about my detained husband.” Asgaroladi had previously said that Mousavi and Karroubi could be released but only after writing a “letter of repent.”  Fatemeh Karroubi  insisted that her husband’s house arrest is “illegal and unethical” and he has nothing to repent for. Fatemeh Karroubi’s reaction takes place almost 900 days since Mehdi Karroubi’s house arrest together with fellow reformist leaders, Mir Hossein Mousavi and (his wife) Zahra Ranavard. She asked Asgaroladi to cease this course of action and instead organize a debate between the “protesters of 2009″ (Presidential elections) and “The Guardian Council actors and its secretary”.
