The Supreme Leader’s Advisor on International Affairs, Dr. Ali Ahkbar Velayati, discussed some media reports regarding the failure of nuclear talks in Almaty, and said that it appears that the 5+1 and the international community will finally be forced to recognize Iran’s right to nuclear energy, which has earned the support of the Iranian people and Supreme Leader. He emphasized that Iran tried in the past to suspend uranium enrichment activity during the reformist government. The West did not act in good faith with Iran and failed to respond to its demands. He added that Iran at that time agreed to a suspension in order to prove to the world, the West and our citizens that the withdrawal against the enemy and the West is useless. At the instruction of the Supreme Leader, the decision was made to continue our activity (in the nuclear field) within the confines of the NPT.
