Deputy Foreign Minister, Hossein Amir Abdollahian, reiterated that diplomacy is the way to resolve the Syrian crisis. He added that during his recent trip to Cairo, the Egyptian President expressed support for Iran’s initiative and Egyptian authorities would soon announce the date of the meeting. Earlier Iran pursued a “contact group” with the three countries, putting out a nine-point plan to resolve the crisis, but the initiative quickly fell apart when Saudi Arabia failed to join the first meeting of ministers.
