Mohammad Javad Zarif: “I write these lines to you from Berlin. I was in Munich from Friday until Sunday to participate in the fiftieth security conference that took place there. The plans that were organized for me included informal breakfast with “young generation leaders” that included young experts from various countries. For the first time, one of Iran’s foreign ministry young experts was invited to attend who has just graduated the Academy and was one of its top students. Another official plan involved Iran in the form of a panel (see below). The topic centered around the nuclear issue but other issues were discussed as well. If you want, you can view the topics that were discussed in the panel here: https://www.securityconference.de/en/media-library/single/video/panel-discussion-iran
On the sidelines of the conference, I held several meetings as well as an interview. I met with the UN Secretary General, Ms. Ashton, Director General of the IAEA Akdar Ibrahimi, the Lebanese Prime Minister, Secretary of State of the US, France, Austria, Finland, Bosnia, Slovakia, Ukraine, etc. Secretary of the Indian National Security Council, Chairman of the Foreing Committee and Head of the Majority Faction of the German Parliament as well as several intellectuals and non-government opposition leaders from the US and Europe. I also met with the German FM in his hotel near the conference hall. I was scheduled to meet with the Russian FM but since one of the meetings went into overtime, there wasn’t enough time and the meeting did not take place. I conducted several media interviews. I arrived in Berlin last night, where I conducted an interview with the German network Phoenix and immediately afterwards, traveled to meet with the embassy staff. I now have to participate in the ZDF morning show. I will then participate in a business lunch with German industrialists and then give a speech at Germany’s Institute of International Research and then I will return to Iran.
