Ahmadinejad announced that “due to a busy schedule and lack of time,” he would not be able to meet Majlis members and listen to their comments, and he will leave the Majlis after delivering his speech. He is scheduled to appear in the Majlis on January 16 and address “key economic issues and the implementation of the second phase of the Targeted Subsidies Plan.” The President has said that if the Majlis members insist on expressing their views, the ministers (accompanying the President on his Majlis tour) might listen to their comments and report the final outcome to him. In response, the Majlis Presidium announced that “if the President has no time to listen, it would be better that he not appear in the Majlis at all, because under the current circumstances Majlis members are not willing to listen to him.” He later stressed that it will be up to the President to decide whether he stays after his speech or leaves the Majlis.” The spokesman for the Majlis Presidium said that the Presidium asked Ahmadinejad to attend the Majlis on Wednesday, January 16, which is earlier than he originally planned.
