Especially with the rise in the exchange rate of the dollar, Iran’s pharmaceutical market is facing a multitude of problems such as a rise in the cost of medicines, drug shortages and a decline in pharmaceutical production in Iran. Even though the exchange rate of the dollar has recently been on the decline, it has not yet had any effect on the price of drugs, and it seems that it is not solving the problem of drugs. The Health Minister’s statement that the pharmaceutical market’s situation is satisfactory is only words written on paper, and in practice Iranians still have a problem and are facing a real crisis over anything related to pharmaceuticals, and anyone hoping to buy a drug has to run to many pharmacies to find it. According to the Head of the Pharmacy Faculty inTehran, the Ministry of Health’s poor performance last year led to drug shortages in three-digit numbers. On average, the official price of drugs increased by 40%.
