Argentine State Prosecutor: Iran established terrorist networks in Latin America dating back to the 1980s

Alberto Nisman, investigating the 1994 bombing of AMIA (Asociacion Mutua l Israelita Argentina) in Buenos Aires that killed 85 people, presented a ruling in which he accused Iran of infiltrating Latin-American countries to foment terrorist acts. Nisman’s 500-page-long document maintained that he has evidence of Iran’s “intelligence and terrorist networks” in Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay, Chile, Colombia, Guyana, Trinidad and Tobago and Suriname and other states and regions. Argentina has secured Interpol arrest warrants for nine men – eight Iranians and one person presumed to be Lebanese (Hezbollah). Defense Minister Ahmad Vahidi is among the officials sought by Argentina. Another Iranian with an outstanding arrest warrant against him in the AMIA case is Mohsen Rezaee, a former IRGC commander who is running for president. Rafsanjani, former President (1989-1997) and his Foreign Minister Velayati (another presidential candidate) are also on the list. Nisman urged Interpol to intensify its efforts to execute the arrest warrants.
