Minister of Industry, Mining and Commerce: Sanctions cannot hurt Iranian economy, because “Iran’s economy is based on oil”

Monday, 4 June 2012

Mehdi Ghazanfari said during Friday prayer sermons that “Those who impose sanctions on our economy believe that Iran’s economy is dependent on oil revenues, so they want to wreak havoc in our economy by putting pressure on our oil industry… Iran’s economy is among the world’s top 20 economies… Some minor measures such as restrictions on banks and money transfers, and sanctions imposed on Iran’s oil industry and the Central Bank cannot cause any problems for Iran’s economy.” Ghazanfari urged all branches of the government to cooperate in order to accomplish the production goals determined by the Supreme Leader.
