The platform is based on the commitments of the Islamic Republic of Iran as a signatory of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which states that “the will of the people shall be the basis of the authority of government; this will shall be expressed in periodic and genuine elections,” and according to the constitution of the Islamic Republic of Iran which determines that “the affairs of the country must be administered on the basis of public opinion expressed by the means of elections.” Behind this initiative are Garry Kasparov, Prof. Irwin Cotler, Prof. Larry Diamond, Prof. David Pollock, Prof. Francis Fukuyama and more.
